Wilder is such a funny and surprising kid. Three memorable funnies from him this week are:

-On Wednesday, “Mommy, my MOPS teacher said its Aunt Patlick’s Day! That’s silly!”

-On Thursday (we had a scare with pink eye…no one in our house has it), “If I touch my eye, I’m going to get purple eye!”

-On Friday, he got himself dressed. I sent him into the one-seater restroom at Kroger and waited beside the door. When he came out he said, “I think I still have on my pj pants. I have on two pairs of pants!” Sure enough, he did.

We had some extra excitement this week. Some was expected – some… not so much. We’ve enjoyed having some of our favorite people visiting. Drearie was kind enough to spend her Spring Break with us in rainy Middle Georgia instead of Daytona. We appreciate her sacrifice. Robin and Smiley girl are spending the rest of the week with us, too. I’m glad we invested in a new mattress for the guest room.
I (Chad) and Wilder have both had some icky sticky snotty nose boy stuff. Wilder’s story is little more interesting than mine. We took him to the doctor (we wanted to get Wilder tested for hereditary diseases anyway). The doctor prescribed a nasal spray which apparently is more fun than Disney World for a 3 year old boy. He was brave and even wanted to watch them extract his blood. He was fascinated. When they were finished, he asked the nurse to put it back in. The nurse fibbed and said she already did. He got another chance to see his necessary crimson fluid again on Thursday night.
After taking a shower, Wilder started shaking off before I’d let him get out. I stepped out to check on Adeline. (*scream*) – off stage left. The water covering Wilder’s body had been replaced. A quick assessment showed the flow only originating from his top two front teeth. Isolated injury. Long story short – the dentist says there’s no permanent injury… other than the chipped tooth. I hope he learned something about consequences. He sure took his licks like a man. I’m proud of you, Wilder.
I watched Adeline today as she chose to make a loving, patient choice instead of being upset. While playing a warm up game for gymnastics, Adeline lost because another girl broke the rules and everyone watching knew it. With all eyes watching to see what would happen, Adeline chose to sit out instead of making it an issue. I’m proud you, Adeline.

We are so proud of Chad who completed his first triathlon today! He met all of his goals…#1-he finished the race, #2-he didn’t walk on the running portion, #3-he didn’t puke, #4-he finished in under two hours! Here are a few pics:

Adeline’s “To Learn” List

Adeline has this little list in her mind of things she really wants to accomplish. Among the items on it are swinging by herself, tying her shoe, losing a tooth, and riding a bike without training wheels. Well, in the past few weeks she has accomplished two off the list. It is such a thrill to see her excitement in these accomplishments. She is growing up so fast.

So, the first thing she conquered was swinging on her own. She was so excited to show me, then Chad, and then Dearie & Grampy when they were here last weekend. I caught a little bit on film.

And last night, Adeline showed me that she can tie her shoe! She has to work a little on making it tight enough, but she’s got the basic idea right. We are SO proud of her!

We had two mice in our house this week! One disappeared once the kids got in bed, the other was harder to get rid of. Notice the white gloves like Mickey… These pictures make us all anxious to return to Disney. Why can’t Uncle Chris work there forever?!
